I do have a live USB of LXLE 14.04, I can try to see if sound works on there. I tried swapping the headphones from back 3.5mm to front panel audio, I tried using different headphones, it all had the same result.Īs far as I know, the motherboard has an ALC887 chip from Realtek. I also tried getting the daily packages for Alsa (LTS Vivid to be correct) but it didn't help. Muting and unmuting did cause a slight crackle in my headphones, but I didn't get any sound through. Its hard to avoid comparisons to MSIs original GT70 while handling the Dragon Edition - after all, the two machines are built on the same chassis. I was able to get sound through HDMI, but I would like to use my headphones for audio instead of my monitor speakers. I tried reinstalling pulseaudio and alsa. I made sure that everything was set to 100 and unmuted in Alsamixer. Installing went fine, I was able to boot into my system like usual, but audio wasn't working. So, today I got a new CPU, some RAM and a motherboard.
